UHE Family Storytelling Evening – June 23

Dear UHE Community,

Your Parent Advisory Council (PAC) extends a warm invitation to you and your family to join us for an evening of storytelling on Wednesday June 23rd, 5-6:30pm.

Event Program

virtual “doors” open at 5pm – live music and mingling

5:15-5:45pm – students / family stories.

We have 5 slots for families to sign up to share stories (first come, first serve). Stories can be told or read and should take 5 minutes or less. The theme of the event is gratitude,  and stories that connect to that theme are especially welcome.

5:45-6:30pm – Professional storyteller and author Naomi Steinberg  will perform her stories

6:30pm-onward – optional “open mic” for more students/family stories

Families are welcome to arrive anytime before 5:45pm.

A note on age range: this invitation is shared with the entire school community. Oral stories have a broad age appeal and the content shared by the professional teller will be appropriate for children from K-7. However, we ask parents to use their best judgement as to whether the event will be engaging and of interest for your  kids. One nice thing about Zoom is that kids can be doing other things, can wander away, etc. without it being too disruptive 🙂

RSVP to  universityhighlands.pac@burnabyschools.ca to receive the event link.

If you or your child would like to share a story during the event, please email us in advance to sign up (first come, first serve).

We look forward to celebrating the beginning of summer and the end of a challenging school year with you all on June 23rd.

Sincerely,

Your 2021 PAC Executive
