Dear UHE Families,
With the end of the school year upon us, I want to take a moment to thank you for being such an important part of our UHE community. This year has been filled with growth, connection, and memorable experiences for our students and staff. Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable summer ahead.
As we conclude the year, here are a few important reminders:
Moving?
For families who are moving on to other communities, we wish you all the best in the future. Please ensure you have emailed the school at universityhighlands.info@burnabyschools.ca to let us know about this change. Don’t be a stranger when you come back for visits- you will always be a welcomed part of our school community.

First Day for Returning Students in grades 1-7
School re-opens on Tuesday, September 8th, from 8:50am-10:00am, for us to reconnect and confirm who is returning for the school year. If your child is sick and not attending that first day, it is important you contact the office (604-296-9036) so that we include them in our enrollment count. Students can line up at the same spots they lined up this year. We return to full days (8:50am-3:00pm) starting on Wednesday, September 9th.
New Students, grades 1-7
If your child is new to University Highlands, please come to a welcome orientation on Tuesday, September 8th from 10:30–11:30 a.m. This will allow you to meet some of the staff, learn about what to expect at our school, and to have a tour.
– Please note: New students do not attend the morning session (8:50–10:00 a.m.).
– New students should arrive at 10:30 a.m. only.
Kindergarten
A reminder for our new kindergarten students that you are invited to our Welcome to UHE event on Tuesday September 8th. We look forward to meeting you and engaging in some “getting to know you” activities. This will be a rain or shine outdoor event for kindergartens and their parent/ guardians. Please refer to the email that was sent earlier in June for further details. See attached for the draft gradual entry schedule for September 2026.
New Bell Schedule
From time to time, our bell schedule needs to shift slightly to ensure we have the correct number of instructional minutes scheduled into our day. Next year is one of those years; please see below. You will notice that there is a 3-minute adjustment, and we will have a slightly shortened lunch, while keeping consistent start and dismissal times.
